What brand of Pop Tops do you fit?

1

We choose Austops because we believe they offer the highest quality pop-tops available in the UK. Their roofs come with a 5-year warranty, use durable marine-grade canvas, and are TÜV tested — one of the most rigorous safety and quality standards in the industry.

How quick can you fit me in?

2

Our current lead time is around three weeks, though this can vary depending on how busy we are. Get in touch with us and we’ll be happy to let you know our next available fitting dates.

How does the pop-top roof fitting process work?

3

Once your fitting date is confirmed, please bring your van to our workshop on the outskirts of Maidstone between 7.30 – 8.00am. We’ll be happy to answer any last-minute questions when you arrive, and then you can leave the van with us. It will be ready for collection the following morning.

Can you recommend somewhere local to stay?

What colour can I have my roof?

Can I have a pop fitted on my van that’s already converted?

Yes. There are two nearby hotels — the Marriott Tudor Park and the Mercure Great Danes — both located just a couple of miles from our workshop, and we are happy to drop you off there if required. We are also situated directly opposite Harrietsham Station, which offers direct trains into Maidstone and Ashford should you prefer to stay in town.

We can supply any colour you’d like. Just give us the manufacturer’s paint code, RAL code, or any other recognised industry colour reference, and Austops can have the pigment mixed to produce your roof in the exact shade you choose.

When converting a campervan, the pop-top roof should be installed as the first stage of the build. We require the van to be completely empty, with no furniture or fittings inside, so our team can begin work immediately. If your van has already been converted, please contact us with further details, and we will advise whether the installation is still feasible.

Can I have a roof rack or roof bars?

How much weight can I put on my roof?

Yes, you can fit a roof rack or roof bars to your Austops roof. The fixings must be positioned on the outside of the canvas area towards the edge of the roof.

We recommend that no more than 25kg is placed on the roof, including all fixings and any luggage.  The gas struts and scissor hinges which support your roof have been manufactured specifically to support the weight of the Austops roof, enabling the roof to be open and closed efficiently and with the right amount of force. Additional weight on the roof will create an additional workload resulting in potential damage the struts and hinges.
